When an actor "reveals a persona" of his character, what happens?
1. The actor does a good job, so we can get a good understanding of the character. 2. The persona is gone, and the character's deeper side appears on the surface.
I think 1 is more likely, but if a persona is a kind of "mask," it sounds strange trying to show a real mask.
Thanks.

#1. Broadly speaking,it means that the actor shows an aspect of his character's personality. I wouldn't call this kind of 'persona' a mask.
