Vocabulary

Retirement/pension

Firstly, what is the difference between these 2 words.
Secondly, is it ok to say: "to send sb to retirement"?
What I mean by that is when, for example, you are entreprenour and one of your worker is in his or her retirement age, but he or she would rather remain at his post. On the other side you would prefer to sack him. I don't know your employment law but in the poland it is possible to remain at post despite beeing in the retirement age.

"Retirement" means the period in your life when you've stopped working permanently (normally because of age, although you can retire for other reasons too, like illness). "Pension" refers to the money someone in retirement receives either from the state, or from certain types of investment or insurance. People in retirement are often called pensioners, because they receive a pension.
