retired versus walkover

0Hi,02br

00In a badminton game, when one player is injured or something, he or she will be retired, and sometimes walkover. These two ideas are very close, and it didn't help me much after I looked both words up in a dictionary. So, I wonder if they convey the same idea to you or not. Thanks for your viewpoints in advance.0-

00I was thinking I'd heard the expression "to retire from a match," but wasn't positive.02br

00Did a google on "forced to retire" sports, and got over 100 k hits. Most were cases of retiring from a career, but maybe 20% were retiring from a race or a match. All seemed to be voluntary.02br
