Grammar

Restrictive or nonrestrictive.

Hi,

The old slums, which were ruined, were rebuilt.

I dealt with the adjective clause as nonrestrictive since it just adds extra information because we understand from the subject complement 'rebuilt' that 'the old slums' were ruined since we can't rebuild something without ruining it.
In other words, I didn't count it nonrestrictive because of the antecedent itself.

The old slums which I pictured were rebuilt.

I dealt with the next version of the adjective clause as restrictive since it identifies the antecedent.

Another example:

The remark, which everybody liked, was interesting.
The remark which you said hesitantly was interesting.

I'm I correct?

Thanks.
