Restricted/Non Restricted

Hi, Is my understanding of restricted and non restricted pronouns correct? Thanks Fulvio
1. The new cars which were made in China have all been sold.
2. The new cars that were made in China have all been sold.

For number 1 "which" is the non restrictive pronoun. "Which were made in China" is just additional information but not essential for identifying what I am talking about. What I am referring to the listener is the new cars. In this case all the new cars in the showroom are made in China.
For number 2 that is a restrictive pronoun. "That" were made in China" is essential information. What I am referring to the listener is the new cars that were made in China. There could be other cars made in Japan Germany ect.

Yes, your understanding is correct. However, to make the non-restrictive element clearer, I would set of the phrase with commas: The new cars, which were made in China, have all been sold.
