rest on the desk and rest at the desk?

Hi,

I am just wondering if they mean the same things? Or, does one mean we put our heads on the desk and rest, and the other mean we rest by the desk without describing how we did the resting?

Thanks,

They have different meanings; His feet were up, resting on his desk. He was so tired that he went to sleep at his desk.
