rest and remaining

I have five houses. One is in London, one in Buenos Aires and the rest/remaining are in KL.

Is it correct to is rest/remaining 'are' instead of 'is'? Emotion: tongue tied

Yes for the rest : The rest (of my houses) are in KL. The rest (of my spaghetti) is in my lap . However, I don't think remaining can be used as a pronoun.
