Responsibility vs. Responsibilities

Which one of the following sentences are correct and which one is wrong? and why?

1. I have a lot of responsibility.

2. I have a lot of responsibilities.

Those are both possible. The second one more explicitly expresses that you are responsible for multiple things, but in practice this might be assumed in the first case too, so there may not be a big difference. The first sentence is probably more common.
