Response to a very easy explanation

Hi, last week I got someone's answer to the question I fired at him. His anwer was rather simple, something that you could have solved yourself if you had more time to think about it. What can I say in response to his answer, referring to the fact that the answer is that easy that you could have solved it yourself?

Try this: Thanks for your help. I should have been able to figure it out for myself, but I really appreciate your taking the time to help me.
