Can you help me please with the use of "respectively" in this contex:
TWG and CS groups were respectively divided in four subgroups defined as four-planned position of the chest tube tip (target position in pleural cavity): first (back-down-right), second (front-up-right), third (front-up-left), fourth (back-down-left).
or
TWG and CS groups were divided in four respective subgroups, defined as four-planned position of the chest tube tip (target position in pleural cavity): first (back-down-right), second (front-up-right), third (front-up-left), fourth (back-down-left)
It should mean that each group was divided in 4 groups.
