Resources of Scripted News Video Clips?

Hello all,

I'm a Vietnamese English learner and looking for some informative videos with script embedded, like five-minute news clips from the BBC (I've been seeking for scripted ones but it seems there is hardly any) or so - any video which is represented by British native speakers and popular within the UK.

Could you recommend me a resource of such videos? Also, please don't mind about me asking for British ones but not the other accents. It's because our teachers mostly prefer British accent (Londoners' dialect to be exact) and we therefore may gain higher mark in examinations by answering with a British voice.

Thank you very much for any help

BBC iPlayer Hi The BBC has quite a good reputation for subtitles but, I must admit, it took me a while to work it out on the web The trick, I think, is to use BBC iPlayer and then to know that you click the 'S' button to get the subtitles. Also, a problem with the news (and any live program) is that the subtitles can appear quite a long way behind the speech. If you want the subtitle to appear close to the spoken word, it is better to choose a pre-recorded programme, such as a documentary Here is a program I chose at random, about a train journey in the US.

  • Using the menu, there are many clips of all kinds The presenter here is speaking in a very recognisable British accent, but another thing that you will find with the BBC is that they use a range of regional accents.

Hi Dave,

I'm thankful in depth to your helpful kind suggestion. The program is perfectly functional and just adequate for all my needs.

Unfortunately, it, alas, is not legally available in countries outside the UK (said the site) and I thus have no alternative but to execute some dirty approach in order to reach the illegal permission. Although there are couples of annoying probl

Hi

I'm glad you were able to get to the website and thank you for the advice. It didn't occur to me that iPlayer isn't freely available

Best regards, Dave
