Resignation Letter

What is the ideal format of writing a resignation letter? Should I ommit that I am leaving my present job for a better option or write everything clearly?

Dear Mr. Boss:

I resign effective 30 January 2005.

I thank you for your support over the past X years. I have enjoyed the projects and people that I worked with.

I wish you, the department, and company continued success.
