Research Paper

Hello everyone,

firstly, I'd like to introduce myself. I study English and Spanish linguistics at university. I'm in the second grade now. And that's why I'm writing here. It's the first time I am supposed to write a Research Paper. The problem is that I have no idea of how it should be done. Of course, oficially I have a supervisor, but it seems that she does not care too much and therefore are not keen on helping me. The topic of my RP is: "Phrasal verbs and their derivtional patterns occuring in modern English literature." The only thing she told me was that I should read any book written by John Irving. But this information belongs to the main body of a RP, so I still have some time. The biggest problem is that the introduction (in other words, theoretical part) of my RP should be delivered until 26th January, so this is very urgent. And... I have no idea what sources to include, because none of them were recommended to me (although they should have been recommended, having in mind that this is the first time I am supposed to produce a RP). So, I feel completely lost. If somebody could provide me with any useful and appropriate information, recommend some articles, etc., or even give me the broader understanding of the topic (I'd be more than happy to receive examples of the derivatives of phrasal verbs...), I'd be me more than grateful. To me this is extremely important.
