Research on\Understand easier

Hi Forum.

I've been using this forums for a while now. (asking anonymous questions kekeke)

And I only had the disposal to register now.

I may ask some stupid questions, but don't mind them please;

since they have some deep meaning for my language skills.

The question today is

What form is acceptable?

'He used research on whales when he was young.'

or maybe

'He researched whales when he was young.'

Maybe both?

Another one is:

'I can understand easier when I write what I study.'

or maybe

'I can understand more easily when I write what I study.'

I'm not completely familiar with grammar terminology, If I knew the name of these I could look it up.

Thanks Emotion: bow

Hi CJ!

Thanks for your reply, and thanks for the welcome.

hahha I think I forgot some 'to do' there!

I personally think that the to do research on is better too.

About the second one.

Understand easier is a correct form to express it, too?

It sounds really awkward.

Hope I have the opportunity to talk more with you people here.

Let me put it this way. If you said it, people would understand what you meant, but you're absolutely right that it is awkward.
