Research letter

Dear Dr. Akindele Odeshi,

My name is XXX. I am a fresh graduate From NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan. I completed four years of equivalent Bachelors of Engineering in the field of Metallurgical Engineering in XX (year). Since, I have not yet received my transcript of grades therefore I have roughly calculated my GPA in last two years of study which is found to be around XX, I also stood 2nd position in my batch.
Recently, I did my final year project which was “To Design and Develop Laboratory (Miniature) Scale Blast Furnace”, this included blast furnace unit along with the coke oven setup. Below is an attachment where the details are mentioned regarding the project. My research interest is keenly dependent on projects related to pyro-metallurgy, deformation and failure analysis of materials, inspection and testing of materials, physical metallurgy, heat treatment of materials and studying engineered alloys Including Fe, AL & Mg alloys and also in characterization and synthesis of super alloys and various composites. Summing up I just want to say that I am interested in any research project which are related to material sciences.
I wish to begin M.Sc. in Materials, physical metallurgy or deformation and failure analysis, with the given order of preferences in September 2016. I would be highly obliged if you review the attached document and let me know what the possibilities might be regarding any space available for me in the graduate seat under your authority.

Yours sincerely,
XXX

In a Western-style letter, you begin by stating your purpose. The first question in the reader's mind is always 'Why is this person writing to me?' This means you should move your last paragraph to the start.

End by simply thanking him for considering your application.
