Letter Writing

REQUEST LETTER (TASK 1 - IELTS GENERAL)

Thank you for reading and correcting this writing letter. May your day be blessed with happiness and peace of mind!

Topic: You paid a refundable deposit when you rented an apartment. You left the apartment in good condition but the landlord won't return your deposit.

Write a letter to the landlord. In your letter

  • explain why you are writing
  • ask for the return of your deposit
  • inform the landlord of possible legal action

You should write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write and addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear ...,

----------

Dear Mr. Ho,

I am writing to request for the return of the $ 1,000 deposit which I gave you when we signed a contract to rent your apartment H2.

When I called your office, I talked to the receptionist about the deposit and she told me she would talk to her supervisor, and promised to call me back at the latest / on or before 10th of October, but now, 20th of November, I have not received any information from your office.

According to term 2 in the contract, I followed exactly this, so the deposit should be returned to me when the apartment is vacated clean and undamaged. Spectacularly, there were no breakages or damages to the furniture. I respectfully request you implementing what we agreed in the contract. If you do not have any action, I will seek legal advice. You can call me via / by 084254698 for negotiation.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for attention.

Yours faithfully,

Tuan Nguyen
