REQUEST FOR THE MEANINGS OF BOLD WORDS

Hi Everyone!

Dear Concerned:

I've sent an earlier post but did not get its reply. Therefore, you are requested to help me with the meanings of the following bold worlds; in some cases the possible meanings have been given and I am uncertain of their meanings. Please do guide me for their correctness.

1 .... nothing short of an earthquake could shake them loose from the kitchen.

2. I'd never understood their fascination with cooking. (attraction or obsession with cooking?)

3. I stifled a bored groan as Tonya went on.

4. All the time I thought I was dazzling him with my cool moves, I was actually driving him away. (making him crazy with my actions..?)

5. There is nothing wrong with a guy using his brains instead of his muscles. (there is no harm if a guy is more intelligent than being strong?)

6 .... he looked every bit as hot as he had yesterday in shorts. (he was looking very hot in shorts yesterday?)

7. I stood behind it with a pasted-on smile.

Thanking you in anticipation.

sincerely

I'm a little confused. You are asking for the meanings of the boldfaced words, but "with" is in bold while your parenthetical question seems to be about other words. I'll address the bold words for you.
