4. You have some explaining to do. You're possibly in trouble for being in a situation which you should not be in. It will take a lot of talking to get out of it.

5. I thought maybe you could use a lift to school ~~(ask someone to give a ride?).~~ The speaker is offering to give a ride to someone.

6. Dad wants me to get fitted for a tux-- he and Carol have moved up their wedding
date (changed their wedding?). Changed it to an earlier date.

7. Is there a second to this perfectly idiotic motion. This is a procedure from Robert's Rules of Order. In a formal meeting, someone who wishes to advance a proposal must "move" it, or "make a motion that it be adopted." The chairman must then ask for a second person to announce that he also is in favor of the proposal. He would typically say, "I second the motion." Only after the motion has been seconded can the chairman call for a vote on the matter. The words which you quote would probably be spoken by the chairman, but some wise guy might make the remark.

8. Jake probably thought I was a spineless wimp. This is an idiomatic expression used in a derogatory manner to describe someone who lacks courage and conviction.
