Request for Help in correcting following passage

My previous Master’s programme and the thesis I submitted was entirely followed qualitative research approach. I am extremely eager to learn the use of quantitative method in data collection and analysis along with qualitative methods. I learnt basic statistics and SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) application during my bachelor, and I am about to forget it due to lack of exercise. This programme would be a wonderful chance for me to refine my quantitative analysis skills. I am totally impressed by the academic curriculum of my selected programmes offered by some prominent UK universities.

I have gone through the courses’ curriculum and found the selected three programmes have extensive focus on social research including quantitative research module. My future goal is to obtain Ph.D. in relevant field. I already developed two different doctoral proposals and applied to 3-4 universities. I was shortlisted for two cases, but did not able to make it at the end. One was so close, I was on a list of three candidates where two were chosen. It seems I was so close yet so far. Hence I feel that I have some lacking in terms of research methods and techniques. I have sound knowledge about qualitative research. But I feel that I have dearth of adequate knowledge on quantitative analysis as well.

If one wants to make a generable research in the field of political science and comparative politics or related fields like public administration, governance, public policy he need to conduct cross country/culture study. To cover huge data set of cross-country one need quantitative knowledge. The prime reason for picking out aforementioned courses is to develop excellent research and analytical skills and to discern potential areas of interest for a future PhD.

In addition, the chosen courses have similarity to my previous studies with subtle variation. As I involved in teaching in a university where I may need to take different course as per organization’s needs. The second reason for questing an additional master degree in different course other than Public Administration (though selected courses are similar to public administration) is expand my intellectual horizon and enable me teach more diverse range of courses.
