Hello , does 'reproach' mean very strong , severe criticism or a light , mild criticism ??

How strong is the word 'opprobrious' ?? Can we call a person to be opprobrious ??

Reproach (n) is mild; opprobium (n) is strong and unpleasant. I have never heard opprobrious used of a person, and it sounds odd to me; we do, however, speak of a person's opprobrious acts/conduct/words/comment s/etc.
