Hi. If the content in the original quoted speech is belived to be still true by the person speaking it or by the public (anyway, is there an arbitrary rule as to how many people must (should) view it as still being true?), then would you say the tense can remain present (ie, in the present tense)?
He said she is attending the University of XXX.
He sadi she was attending the University of XXX.
