Reported Speech Question. Unit 7

Hi Teachers,

Is B the correct reported speech sentence according to A? If not, could you correct me please?

a) The sergeant answered, “It’s not far. Besides you’ve got your bike.”

b) The sergeant answered that it wasn’t far, an added that he had got his bike.
