Reported speech: I've got

Hi there,

I wonder whether it sounds natural if 'I've got' in direct speech is backshifted to 'he/she had got'?

For instance,
"I've got a plan," said my brother. -> My brother said that he HAD got a plan. (Instead of 'My brother said he had a plan'.)
