Reported Speech

Hello,

I have two questions related to each other, please.

Question 1: Can I say: 'I went out after I did my homework,' instead of ' I went out after I had finished my homework'?

Question 2: If I can, how can I put them into reported speech?

Is 'He said that he had gone out after he finished his homework,' a wrong sentence? While we can say 'He said he had gone out at 8 o'clock,' if he finished his homework before 8, the sentence seems to be correct, I think.

Thanks for your help in advance.
