I have some doubts about the tense shift in reported speech. Here is an exemple: Lucy "What time do you usually wake up?" --> REPORTED SPEECH: Lucy asked me what time I usually woke up.
Can I also say: Lucy aske me what time I usually wake up ?since Lucy is making a question about a routine action that can be always true.
Another example: Lucy: I can speak Chinese --> She said she could speak Chinese.
She said she can speak Chinese is correct?
