Reported Speech

Hello,

I've got some problems with transforming this sentence

"I will do whatever it takes," said Kate

into reported speech, especially I am not sure what to do with "takes".
Should I leave it as it is or should I put it into the past tense?

Can you tell me if my sentence is correct?

"Kate said that she would do everything it took"

Thank you

Why did you change whatever? Apart from that, the sentence is fine. CB

Thank you. I've corrected the sentence. Is it ok now?

"Kate said that she would do whatever it took"
