Reported speech

Hi,

How should I convert these quoted speeches into reported speeches?
I've tried to do that myself first, but I'm not sure if I've done that correctly.

1)
D = Jill: "I won't be a doctor when I grow up."
Indirect: Jill said (that) he wouldn't be a doctor when he grows up. (I am confused about the second part 'when I grow up'. How should I change it into reported speech?)

2)
D = Jane said, "I am not going to see/i am not seeing that movie tonight." (Jane said this in the morning)
In = Jane said that she was not going to see/ she was not seeing that movie tonight (or that night?)
[It is evening and the night Jane was talking about hasn't come yet.]

3)
D = Jason: "when she was 14 and I was 15, we fell in love with each other, and now, after spending 5 years together she is telling me to leave her alone.
In = Jason said (that) when she had been 14 and he had been 15, they had fallen in love with each other, and then, after spending 5 years together, she was telling him to leave her alone.

4)
D= My mother shouted, "When will you be able to take care of your things yourself?"
In = My mother shouted (that) when would I be able to take care of my things myself.

5)
D = He prayed, "May God grant her a long and happy life!"
In = He prayed that might God grant her a long and happy life! (I am sure at all if it is correct Emotion: sad

" Indirect: Jill said (that) she wouldn't be a doctor when she grows up. (I am confused about the second part 'when I grow up'. ) The subordinate clauses remain the same.

1) Yours is correct if you keep "that". You did the second part right as well, but need to change "he" to "she"; Jill is a female name.

2) The second one is correct with "tonight". Your note in brackets doesn't make sense in regards to the quote.

3) Keep the verb "was" in front of 14 and 15 as well as "that" and the rest is correct.

4) My mother shouted, asking when I w

I have two doubts. Can anyone explain to me please

1.In the second sentence, do we use "that night" if we are reporting the speech past the night when she did not see the movie?

2. In the fourth sentence, it is written 'when would I be able to' in indirect speech, so, in direct speech will be write Mother said "When I would be able to" or, we can use them interchangeably?

Thank you so much Alphecca Stars!

So, we don't backshift the tenses in subordinate clauses?

<
Jason said (that) when she was 14 and he was 15, they had fallen in love with each other, and then, after spending 5 years together, she was telling him to leave her alone.>>

Doesn't it change the meaning if we keep 'ages' in the past tense(

Hi,

I think the answer to your question is "No". It was my mistake that I didn't invert the subject and would. I should have written 'when I would be able to... ' in the Reported speech.

Thanks

Laborious I should have written 'when I would be able to... ' in the Reported speech.
I think 'when would I be able to' is more apt for reported speech and not 'when I would be able to.' I am not sure though.
