reported speech

Hi

She said to her sister, "Why did you come here when you knew I wasn't there?"
She asked her sister why she had come there when she knew she wasn't there.

Here is it necessary to knew to had known and wasn't to hadn't been in line with backward shift of tense in reported speech?

I have this doubt because I remember learning not to use know in perfect form and be verb in past perfect seems not really necessary here.

Thank you, Sir.
Sir, I have a doubt.
Sharon said to me, "I will help you with the route when I learn about it."
Sharon said that she would help me with the route when she learned about it.
My questions: 1.Have I reported the speech correctly? I have this doubt because I have changed learn to learned, which I think is subordinated verb.

It is OK, but you can also use 'learns'.
