Reported speech

Hi everyone,
In reported speech of commands if i have in the clause more than one verb should i change it to another verb form or should i leave it in the original form? Take a look at the following sentence:
"Call me tomorrow when you arrive"-->
"They told me to call them the following day when i arrive"
They told me to call them the following day when i arrived"
Which one of these option is correct? or maybe none of them..
Someone can help me with that, please Emotion: smile

Top answer

This I think is OK and sounds better. They asked me/told me to call them when I arrived the next day.
