I am trying to improve writing in reported speech. Can you check this paragraph. Thank you.
Can I say "she said her family doctor is Dr. Keith Kendall?' and "his assistant said he is out of the clinic till the first week of the New Year.? Do I always have to back shift and change all tenses?
I received a call from Rebecca yesterday. She told me that she was facing financial problems and that she was unable to work full time due to her injuries she suffered from the car accident. She sounded very anxious.She said her family doctor was Dr. Keith Kendall. She said she had seen him three times. She said she tried to book an appointment with him next week but his assistant said he was out of the clinic till the second week of January.
Can I say "she said her family doctor is Dr. Keith Kendall?' and "his assistant said he is out of the clinic till the first week of the New Year.? Do I always have to back shift and change all tenses?
