Reported speech

Hi

Can you help?

1.A to B: "I was away on a tour to London."

A told B that he was on a tour to London.

Think it is not necessary to use 'had been' in place of 'was'. Am I correct?

2.A to B: "I had plenty of time to meet my friends and have a good chat."

A told B that he had plenty of time to meet his friends and have a good chat.

Think it is not necessary to use 'had had' in place of 'had'. Am I correct?
