Reported speech

Hi,

Are these reporting statements correct?

Come and sit with us.
The old man asked her to come and sit with them.

I'd rather not.
She said she'd rather not sit.

My next question.

Mother said:"Nonsense. You always take tea."
She told her she always took tea.

To whom the second "she" refers in the second sentance?
I would like it to refer to "her". But I am afraid it might be read as refering to mother (first "she").

We know that the mother is a she. I, being a complete outsider, have no idea who the mother is talking to. I could say: Mother said he/she/they always took tea. As this woman isn't my mother, I'd feel inclined to say: The mother said...

I think the second sentence is a redundancy to the first.

Mothers tell the daughter that she(the mother) knows that she(the daughter) always take tea.
so the second one is:


She (the mother) told her(talking to the daughter) she(the daughter) always took
