Reported answers

Could you please tell me what are the common ways of transforming the answer "Yes" into reported speech? E.g. I asked, "Do you have any job now?" He answered, "Yes".
What is the best way of transforming this into reported speech?

I asked him if he had any job. He answered in the affirmative. - is this variant of transformation all right?
