I'm not sure what "outside for purchase" means, so I guessed.

Was the call planned (like a conference call)?

If not I would use a different word to attend - take, recieve or answer.

I wasn't able to take your call yesterday, as I was out of the office buying materials.

Good point. I participate in so many monthly calls that I assumed that's what it was.
