Hi, I say, and hear, 'playback' all the time. I only hear 'replay' on the TV for sporting events, eg American football, where they show special or disputed moves again via 'instant replay'. Best wishes, Clive

Oh, I see. Thank you very much, Clive.
Is it the same in case where 'replay' is used as a verb?
e.g. while listening to some recorded music:
"Would you play back that recording, Jack?"
Not "Would you replay that recording, Jack?"

Hi,

Now I'm not sure if I understood your original query correctly. I understood it to be about a situation where you yourself recorded something, and then wanted to play it back.

If you buy a CD of recorded music, you just 'play it'. Then if you want to hear it again, you simply 'play it again'.

Yes, that is exactly what I meant. Thank you very much, Clive, for the very conscientious answers.
