Replacing "when" with "for / since" in a question

Hi guys,

Does "for" or "since" work in place of "when" in this sentence?

Why do you keep buying plants when you just end up killing them?

If not, why?

Thank you.

Top answer

Why do you keep buying plants when you just end up killing them? "For" does not work. "Since" almost does.
