Replacing the subject with "also,"

Hi there,
Is it correct to replace the subject of a sentence with "also," ?

Example : "Made of solid steel, this pocket knife replaces the hachet , making it obsolete. Also, [it is] easy to carry around, and use for pastry serving"

[it is] being removed

Thanks in advance !
