Replace vs arrange ?

Hi people;
I want to ask a question linked these two verbs.

''I have ............... these books in alphabetical order.
A) replaced
B) tidied
C) arranged
D) modified
E) altered

It is said that the correct option is/was C.
Yes, ''The arrange (-ing) '' is locigal, too; but i think that we must use ''replace'' for meaning that/when we move things phisically, must not we ? Do i stumble ?

Thanx Emotion: smile

(A) and (C) both fit.

(A) has particular emphasis on the fact that the books were previously removed from their usual place (e.g. shelf), and as part of the process of putting them back in that place you have also arranged them alphabetically.

It is important to know the instructions. For example, if the instructions merely say "Choose the correct word" then the question is faulty. If the instructions say something like "If more than one word could fit then choose the most likely / the one that requires fewest assumptions" then one c
