Hi, i tried to simplify the sentence about metaphors :

In this kind of view, which provides no basis for a rigid differentiation between scientific language and other kinds, language, perception, and knowledge are inextricably intertwined.

Rephrased:

Metaphor provides little distinction between scientific and non-scientific language that perception, language and knowledge are bundled.

Any grammatical or semantic errors? did i wrongly put that?

Metaphor provides no ways to distingush scientific from non-scientific language in that perception, language and knowledge are all mixed up together.

I don't see anything about metaphors in this sentence. Perhaps I would, if I had more context.

Rephrased:

Metaphor provides little distinction between scientific and non-scientific language that perception, language and knowledge are bundled.
This is not correct grammar, but more seriously there is no clear meaning. The main clause in the original is that 'language, perception and knowledge are inextricably intertwined'. In your version. you are relegating this to a subordinate clause, thus reducing its importance and emphasis.

The problem is that I don't know what you're trying to say about metaphor.  What relation do you think it has with scientific/non-scientific language?

I found it from a book as a result of mindless browsing. (the phrase is at the 2nd page)

1st page:

I might have understood it wrongly, since i only took that phrase and brought it to school, but let's just assume that the sentence is about metaphors. I tried to remove the subordinate clause but i'm not sure if the original / my sentence is correct :

In this kind of view, language, perception, and knowledge are inextricably intertwined.

Prepositional phrase + Noun phrase, i'm not sure if it is connected properly, so i tried to avoid the problem by changing the meaning, but i did it wrongly anyways

Reading a few pages from the book, what i understand is, metaphor provides a figurative meaning, not literal ( scientific? ).

non-scientific language in that perception, why must i put in?
