Repair of/to

Hello.

I have seen in a few dictionaries that we say ' a repair to sth', and not 'repair of sth'.

Is my sentence ok?

1. As you know, the boat lists to starboard by approximately 5 degrees . This is, totally or partly, the/a result of the/no article mass imbalance between the two keels caused by a/the repair of/to one of them.

(I am mentioning this problem for the first time in my letter)

Similarily,

Can I say:

2. I would like to be reimbursed for the/a repair of/to the keels

(the repair will take place in the future)

3. I would like to be reimbursed for the/a steering wheel repair

(the repair will take place in the future; the person I am speaking to knows the problem of that 'steering wheel')

Thank you in advance.

Hello AGAIN Shadok, It is only with this last posting that I finally have come to understand what your problem is and what you are trying to write. Initially, the way you posted sentences one or two at a time made me think that you were talking about an automobile! We have wasted valuable time.

Hello!

I sympathize with you - English can be a really hard language to master, but luckily because there are so many English speakers it also has to be flexible enough that anything you want to say can be said a number of ways.

These are both correct:

This is, totally or partly, the result of the mass imbalance between the two keels caused by the repear to one of them.

John,

I really appreciate your kind offer of help.

Nonetheless, I had to finish my letters today. In fact I was writing about a car and a boat. As these were really long texts and my time to write them was limited, I posted numerous messages...I won't send so many posts in the future.

This is a really great forum and I appreciate the help of all the people who have check

1. The exact wording of this kind of sentence can be complicated, because of the complex technical issues involved, and the possibility of claims due to repairs that don't work out well.

As you know...or partly, the ["the" would be the generally acceptable usage, however, "a" is also possible, particularly if this is only one of a number of issues caused by the repair] result of the [a
