renew study permit.

I am going to renew my study permit; would you like to help me polish the following paragraph? Thanks a lot.

I expect completing my current degree requirements by 31 August 2008 at the latest, and attending the Convocation Ceremony of Osee's University usually scheduled at the end of November 2008. So I request to extend my stay in Canada until 30 December 2008, with the extra one month for dealing with possible post-graduation or leaving-Canada matters.

The emphatic use of so is considered informal. Perfectly fine to use with your friends but in a formal letter such as this, it is better to use the more formal therefore or consequently.
