remove

Hi anyone know that word you would use when describing that you are trying to remove / trick / bring out something like a hermit crab or a spider from its home? I'm thinking it sounds like excavate... also kind of like drawing it out, teasing it with food or just ambush gahhh no i don't know Somebody help!
