Hi,

If I remember something right now, I'll say 'Now I remember it'.

If I speak of this incident tomorrow, I'll say 'I remembered it yesterday'.

You seem to be tying yourself up in some knots about this issue.

Yeah, you are right
To remember is to recall something from the past.
But saying ( I remembered ) is different than saying ( I remember )
Do you remember that guy from the university ?
( I am asking you now about a guy, now )

That's not true.

We use present simple for the main verb 'remember' only for a past event or present.

For example:

Do you remember the car crash? (it happened yesterday)

Do you remember my name? (asking about memory right now regarding past information)

We never use present simple "Do you remember" for a future event, such as "Do

Hi,

'remember' is a bit irregular.

If I want to talk about the future, I use a future tense.

eg Will you remember Nami's birthday next week?

eg Are you going to remember Nami's birthday next week?

Present simple only works for 'remember' in reference to right now or

something like "It's harder than I remember (it being)" or It's harder than I remembered?!?!
Talking about the past but in the present?
CONFUSED.
