Vocabulary

remember

Hello!

Could you please help me rewrite the following sentence in a more natural way in English?

''Long ago, I remember having seen Lake X freeze and it was a beautiful spectacle!''

Top answer

It's natural as written, although I'd add a pause (a comma) after 'freeze'. More precise is eg I remember seeing Lake X frozen long ago, and it was a beautiful spectacle! The seeing was long ago.

  • The seeing was long ago.
  • Not the remembering.
  • You don't really see a lake perform the actual act of freezing, unless you stand there for eg a week, You see it after it has frozen.
