Remeber / recall

1. I had a difficult time remembering the events of that day.
2. I had a difficult time recalling the events of that day.

"Recall" sounds more formal than "remember," but I think both sentences are grammatically correct. What do you think?

No, not at all. Of course, there are cases in which recall doesn't work: Remember to lock the door.
