Hi. what does the following sentence imply ?

He is not a religious person.

Does it mean he is atheist or it means he is a believer but he is not a devout one.

Truly, it could mean either of those, as well as others. S. ' It could very well mean that he is an atheist or agnostic, as well as that he maybe believes in a higher power or some religion but does not practice devoutly.

In the U.S. it really depends a great deal upon who you talk to, but probably the most common meaning of that would be something like, 'he is more scientific than spiritual in nature or personality.'

I don't think it means either one. I think it means he doesn't even think about religious things. He may never have even thought about whether he believes or doesn't, so he's not an atheist because he doesn't have enough awareness of t

I am studying in an American school, and this question is asked indirectly by one of the university staff.

She asked if I like to join Muslim student association assuming I am muslim, she asked this question because Iran is predominately muslim. At that time I just simply said, I am not a religous person. I don't know how I looked
