Grammar

Relative with preposition at the end

This is the room where I was born
This is the room in which I was born
This is the room (that) I was born in

Could this third sentence be possible:
This is the room which I was born in

And if not, why?

Thanks

Thanks Clive,

And what about these:
  1. This is the park where the fair is held
  2. This is the park in which the fair is held
  3. This is the park the fair is held in
  4. This is the park which/that the fair is held in
Are all of them possible? Because according to the grammar book I am reading, number 4 would not be possible. But I think it would.

The fourth (with "that") would be fine to my ears.

I'd be more likely to say the first.

Thanks a lot, I'm all confused

One last question, if it's not too much bother. Are both these sentences ok for you?

We need a house where we can stay
We need a house (that) we can stay in

Thanks again

Yes, they're okay. I'd use the first, but not object to the second.
