Relative pronoun, fused relative pronoun, and conjunctions

Thank you for your answer. The way you are describing things is similar to how I have traditionally viewed them. But, as we know, grammar tends to develop and grow in meaning, so I am trying to expand my knowledge.

Actually, I have described modern grammar, not the traditional kind, particularly in respect of "that".
