"Relative pronoun" as subject or object.

Hi please help me to understand this subject.

Two following sentences are from this video training (or training video)
1 - This is the course which takes 6 months. (It says this is subject)
2 - This is the course which I took. (It says this is object)

Does not both of them refer to the same thing (This) ?

Two following sentences are from my book ( Its name is "interchange")
1 - I like guys who/that are not too serious.(It says this is subject)
2 - I'd prefer someone who/that I can talk to easily. (It says this is object)

How to distinguish that a relative pronouns is object or subject?

2. I took the course (object).
