Relative pronoun

I think the following S1 is more natural and better than S2. Could you confirm whether I am right? Thank you.

S1. That girl is my friend's sister who is reading a book on the bench.
S2. That girl who is reading a book on the bench is my friend's sister.

Could you tell me why? As far as I know, the longer the subject is, the worse the sentence is. Is it not true?

In S1, the "who" clause has an awkward role. It cannot be defining (since the girl has already been identified), and it doesn't work as non-defining either (even with a comma added). "That girl is my friend's sister, who married my cousin" is more viable; the reason yours isn't may be something to do with the "activity currently in progress" nature of "reading a book".
